Wanted a smaller screen for a desktop clock/weather station. This screen fits the build perfectly. The screen is controllable with code to change brightness and turn on and off. the touch is good. Was easy to print a case for it and mount and the best thing is you dont need any HDMI cables hanging off the side, All I have on mine is the magnetic power cable on top and my phone plugged into the USB port of the Pi 4.

No need for an external monitor with this display. If your application requires the Pi to function as a monitor, the display can give you all the details that you're looking for.
The resolution is sufficient to be used without ever needing an external monitor.
Type and graphics are OK but definitely not video.
The panel is touch sensitive which eliminates the need for a mouse.
If wishing to use an external monitor, the Raspbian software priories the display and drives the external monitor at the same 800 X 480 resolution. I haven't yet found a work-around.

Ich habe mir das Waveshare 5inch DSI LCD, Capacitive Touch Screen 800x480 Pixels für meine Pi gekauft. Mein System: Raspberry 3B, System Raspbian, Bullseye Jan. 2022.
Das Display hat gleich funktioniert, bei der Tochfunktion gab es ein paar Startschwierigkeiten.
Nach Änderung der config.txt (lt. Waveshare Wiki) funktionierte auch die „Touch“ Funktion, leider nicht ganz wie sie soll. Der Mauszeiger war immer weiter rechts von dem Punkt wo mein Finger am Display war.
Nach einigem Mails mit dem Support hat nach der Deaktivierung des 2. Displays alles wie es soll funktioniert.
Guter und schneller Support. Ich habe ein Video hochgeladen um das Problem zu zeigen. Der Schriftwechsel ist in Englisch (chinesisch geht auch wann man das kann, Support/ Fa. ist in China)

Ich habe mir das Display kommen lassen um auf diesem Octopi bzw. Octoscreen zu betreiben. Alle Versuche das Display zum Laufen zu bekommen sind fehlgeschlagen. Alle Wicki-Einträge genauestens abgearbeitet und auch mal das empfohlene Image mit allen Treibern etc. aufgespielt ohne Erfolg. Dies habe ich mit einem Raspberry Pi 4B sowie auch mit einem zweiten RasPi 3B versucht, jedoch das Display bleibt dunkel.
Kein Bootvorgang am Display zu erkennen nur die grüne LED auf der Rückseite blinkt. Habe dann das Display zurückgesendet und ein zweites geordert mit dem selben Ergebnis. Waveshare ein Ticket hinterlassen und auf Antwort gehofft. Auch Vergebens. Nun geht das zweite Display auch zurück und ich werde das Originale 7 Zoll Display von Raspberry bestellen in der Hoffnung das dies dann besser funktioniert. Habe mit den Versuchen sehr viel Freizeit vergeudet bzw. Lebenszeit. Habe auch nirgends eine Rezession gelesen, wo das 7 Zoll DSI Display funktioniert.

Ich nutze das Display am Pi 4 mit Klipper und Klipperscreen. Das Bild wird perfekt angezeigt. Man braucht keine Treiber zu installieren so zu sagne Plug and Play.

Hab gleich noch 2 Weiter bestellt für meine andere Drucker
