Before we proceed on the different concepts related to Multimedia, first we have to talk about the different factual texts or types of texts. What are these factual texts? Factual texts inform the reader about a particular subject. They should give useful information and focus on facts. Example of Factual Texts: Kindly read the first example. When we say recount, it is to retell a series of events. If you recount a story or event, you tell or describe it to people. Another example, kindly read the slide. Means, to instruct someone on how to do something Another example of factual text, kindly read what is on the slide. Meaning to explain how or why something occurs. So, for the last example of factual text? The word multimedia comes from two Latin roots, multi and media. Multi means several or many and media means in the middle. Recount - journal, diary, newspaper article, historical recount, letter, log, timeline Procedure - instruction, recipe, directions Explanation - scientific writing, spoken presentation Description - observation, speech, analysis Meaning to describe the characteristics or features of a thing or a phenomenon So, they were the four factual texts to be used in the different types of multimedia. Do you understand, class? Now, let’s proceed to the different types of multimedia. In the early days, in order to reach people, we used to use print media like letters, newspapers, magazines and books. But, when technology developed, we have now many ways to communicate and reach people, we now have televisions, cellphones, internet, social media and others. A multimedia system consists two or perhaps all of the following types of multimedia. We have here 5 Components of Multimedia Text Materials, Graphics or Photographs, Sound or Audio, Forms of Animation. Now for us to identify to what different types of multimedia being described and for us to know the uses of multimedia we are going to have this identification game. So let us have a fun and Learning. Okay, so what is being described? It Important components used in written explanation to deliver information in many multimedia applications. They are characters used to create words, sentences, and paragraphs. Example: Hypertext Okay, so what is being described? Text Materials different mediums are integrated through the digitization process. Interactivity is heightened by the possibility of easy feedback. 4. Flexible. Being digital, this media can easily be changed to fit different situations and audiences. 5. Used for a wide variety of audiences.
