Answer and Explanation: Many farmers believed the Grange and the Farmer's Alliance were not enough; they believed an actual political party was needed in order to advocate their interests. Because of this, the People's Party (sometimes called the Populist Party) was formed in 1892.

Why did farmers support the creation of the Populist Party?

Cotton prices continued to fall and dropped to 7.5¢ a pound by 1892, or about the cost of production. Efforts by farmers to bring economic and political change within the Bourbon-controlled Democratic Party seemed hopeless. This led Mississippi farmers to turn to and support the newly created Populist Party.
