DisclaimerClinical Practice Guidelines represent a consistent/standardized approach to the care of patients with specific diagnoses. Care should always be individualized by adding patient specific information to the Plan of Care. What nursing care is most important for a newborn with respiratory distress syndrome?Temperature control is an important facet of the care of the infant with respiratory distress and both hypothermia and hyperthermia should be avoided. The temperature should be maintained in the neutral thermal range.
How is respiratory distress syndrome managed at birth?Treatment after the birth
It's usually given through an incubator, a small mask over their nose or face or tubes into their nose. If symptoms are more severe, your baby will be attached to a breathing machine (ventilator) to either support or take over their breathing.
What is the priority interventions for respiratory depression for the newborn?Clearing of airway, ensuring adequate breathing and circulation are the first line of management. A baby in obvious respiratory distress needs to be on continuous pulse oximeter monitoring to decide when intubation and ventilation is required.
What are the nursing interventions for newborn? These nursing interventions include keeping the baby warm, stimulating the baby to breathe, giving breaths to the baby who isn't breathing well, and performing chest compressions if needed.
