Return to calendar/assignments Which sampling method gives equal chance to the population?Simple random sampling. In simple random sampling (SRS), each sampling unit of a population has an equal chance of being included in the sample. Consequently, each possible sample also has an equal chance of being selected. To select a simple random sample, you need to list all of the units in the survey population.
Why random sampling is the best sampling method?Random sampling ensures that results obtained from your sample should approximate what would have been obtained if the entire population had been measured (Shadish et al., 2002). The simplest random sample allows all the units in the population to have an equal chance of being selected.
What type of sampling is opportunity sampling?Opportunity Sampling
Uses people from target population available at the time and willing to take part. It is based on convenience. An opportunity sample is obtained by asking members of the population of interest if they would take part in your research.
What is sampling Why do we need to sample sample design?Selection of a suitable sample design method ensures that the samples you invest your time and money into collecting can support the inferences you want to make. Use of a sample design method that is not appropriate can lead to samples that are biased with respect to your assessment or monitoring objectives.
